The United Nations has designated March 21 as the International Day of Forests, and the theme for 2023 is “Forests and health.” Forests purify our water, clean our air, capture carbon to fight climate change, give us food, provide life-saving medicines, and improve our well-being. Let’s do what we can to safeguard this precious resource.
Riley Trails is an Ottawa County Park with about four miles of trails through a forest of beech, maple, and pine trees.

The next day, on March 22 at 7:00 pm, the Saugatuck-Douglas District Library, will host a discussion of The Hidden Life of Trees, an international bestseller by Peter Wohlleben. The event is co-sponsored by Douglas Congregational UCC Church.
