First Day Hike 2026

Our fifth annual First Day Hike starts at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in the parking lot of Saugatuck Dunes State Park, at 6575 138th Avenue.

We’ll walk about 2 miles on the North Trail (here’s a map of the park). There are some hills, so you may want to bring trekking poles. The long-term forecast is for the temperature to feel like 30 degrees or so. I don’t expect to see snow on the ground, but it may be icy. I suggest bringing some kind of grippy footwear.
