Camino Hike 2024

Kal-Haven Trail, South Haven, July 25, 2024 @ 10:00 am

On July 25, 2024, it’s back to the Kal-Haven Trail! We’ll meet at 10:00 am at the trailhead in South Haven and walk four miles on a recently reopened section of trail. We’ll stop at the Kal-Haven Outpost for rest and refreshment, then walk back to South Haven. All told, it should take three to four hours, depending on our pace and how long we stop.

Bring water! The Outpost will have food for sale, but feel free to bring something to eat as well.

This hike may sound challenging, but the trail is wide, flat, and very easy to follow. If necessary, you can comfortably turn back before we reach the halfway mark.

Directions: From the Blue Star Highway turn west (toward the lake) at Wells Street in South Haven. Go a quarter of a mile and turn right at the traffic circle. The entrance to the trailhead is 100 yards ahead on the right. Here’s the location in Google Maps.

This annual long hike is named for El Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James), a pilgrimage across Spain. Our hike takes place on the “feast” day of St. James. Chris has walked two different Caminos and he’ll be happy to share stories while we hike.
